I'm an AssistU Graduate

I take my business so seriously that I graduated from AssistU, the premiere training program for Virtual Assistants.

Ever since stepping foot out of high school, I never remember being completely satisfied with my career. By the time I graduated, I had spent four years working for my dad's home-based business. I loved it because I was able to wear many hats. I created the company website, logo, and t-shirts. I took appointments and processed credit cards. I met with customers regularly. However, much to my dismay, my dad sold the business, and I had to go out into the corporate world and get a "real job".

I was never satisfied in my work and was always convinced that there was something more out there, something that would satisfy me and would utilize all of my skills. In the meantime, I worked as a cashier, a barista, an office assistant, a copy room associate, a receptionist, and any job that was convenient and paid over minimum wage. That is, until I responded to a job advertisetiment for an office assistant providing support for a Virtual Assistant. At that time, I hadn't the slightest clue what a Virtual Assistant was, but her job sure sounded fun! The ad described a desire for a creative, web-savvy, person who could assist in web updates, Internet research, and client contact. I responded, not actually expecting to be contacted. A few days later, I got a phone call. It was from Angee Robertson, the Virtual Assistant who had placed the ad. I interviewed with her and her husband, David, and the rest is history!

From there, I was addicted. For the first time since I worked for my dad, I loved coming to work. I was able to utilize my web, communication, and creative skills. I never thought that was possible before. I gained invaluable experience from being her assistant. Shortly after I began working with Angee, I decided to enroll in the training program that she completed, called AssistU. AssistU is the premiere training program through which students have to complete 150 hours of class and field work to become a Certified Virtual Assistant. It was a 20-week program, and now I am a proud graduate!

Angee and I have since ended our working relationship, as I married and moved from Alabama to the cold tundra of Illinois! I have now started my own business and am working with clients. However, I am grateful for the experience of working with Angee and David and how they took me under their wing. They were a Godsend.
